Mr. Blackstone graduated from Texas A&I, Kingsville, Texas in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science and the University of Houston in 1973 with an advanced degree as a pharmacist.
Currently, the board has the ability to really work together to accomplish goals without a political agenda on the part of a few members.
Mr. Blackstone enjoys the opportunity to participate in the improvement of our fiscal responsibilities as a district entity, to help improve the physical state of our buildings and campuses. Most importantly, help share with our administrators, teachers, and trustees in improving the quality of education for our children.
Mr. Blackstone's top priorities as a board member are:
Short Range: Achieve Fiscal Stability
Longer Range: Improve our financial picture over a 3-5 year projected time frame
Now and Later: Review and help drive our district toward better curriculums and give the teachers tools and freedom to teach. Take pressure off teachers so they can enjoy teaching and perform less administrative, data accumulating, and less focus on SCORES on STATE TESTS, and emphasize learning over training to score well.
